Not too long ago, voip networks were considered a fly-by-night idea to get people who couldn’t afford phone service or long distance calling hooks up to do so. The sound and connection quality of these services was horrible and the reliability even worse. Many thought the use of the Internet for actual voice communication was dead in the water before it even really got off the ground. Fast forward a few years, and the popularity of voip networks is on the rise. More homes and businesses are using this technology to place and receive calls. In fact, in some families the use of voip for calling is commonplace. The reasons for the change of heart are many, but not the least of which is the increase in sophistication of voip networks and the big name players that have come on board.
